Dr Stephanie Owen Reeder is a children's author with an abiding love of books, history and art.
She was born and grew up in Sydney, Australia.
As a child, she loved playing in the bush and spent lots of her days at the beach with her friends and siblings.
Stephanie went on to University in Sydney which allowed her to teach English, History and languages in high schools.
After moving to Canberra she became the Librarian at the National Library of Australia.
Stephanie writes and illustrates books for both children and adults, as well as Reading Time and The NSW School Magazine.
She has written and edited over 30 books as well as reviewing children’s books and editing a wide range of publications.

Stephanie Owen Reeder reads aloud her inspiring book 'Trouble in the Surf'.
A picture book illustrated by Briony Stewart which retells the true story of how, when he was just 9 years old, Australian pioneering aviator Charles Kingsford Smith nearly drowned in a rip at Bondi Beach in Sydney. He was saved by some of the men who went on to become members of the Bondi Surf Life Saving Club.
